Introduction of Educational Technologies in Science Methods

 This past week we have been introduced to a few educational technology tools that will help us to grow as educators as well as students. This week we looked into Flipgrids as well as out bitmoji classrooms on google slides. I really enjoyed the process of creating on both of these platforms and think that they would be extremely beneficial to use within the classroom (virtual or in-person). In regards to my google slides bitmoji classroom, utilizing bitmoji's is such a simple thing to do that enhances a presentation greatly. Listening to my classmates introduce themselves along with their classroom they created made it much more interesting in a viewer's point of view. For this class when creating out flipgrid we had to answer questions like what we wanted as a superpower or what was something awesome that happened to you this summer? This in my opinion was a good call on my professor's part because these aren't questions that are normally asked so each of us had to think out of the box and really share who we are. To check out my response to these prompts check out figure 2! I think this was a great tool to use when it came to our peer introductions and would most certainly recommend it to teachers.

Dear Humans...

 Book Trailer Journey  Finding a book alone was quite the journey in itself. Growing up my education has ALWAYS had a spice of climate change or global warming mixed in, so when I had to find a book on this topic I was thinking easy peasy. Little did I know. It was quite difficult, many of the books I can across were being published in 2021. However, with that being said of course I was able to find one and I actually love it a lot. The book I chose is called Dear Humans... For starters, this book was written by a 16 year AND it was illustrated by a 16-year-old. That itself is truly amazing to me. I love how our youth are taking a stand in this fight against climate change because we are the next generation, the generation that can reverse it. The storyline also is the cutest thing, it is about a cloud who starts to notice the blue in the sky disappearing and tries to find the color thief. However, he goes to find out it's the humans because of all the polluting we are doing! Below

 Scientific Method Infographic  Created by Julia Loda What I learned about the Scientific Method: What do you think the most important characteristics of a scientist: In this process of creating this infographic and iterating what I have already learned I feel like I was able to understand more after having to restate it all. The scientific method has taught me the underlying message that things aren't linear, you are going to have to tweak or adjust and that is just the way of life. I learned that it is so important to start with a question you are passionate about otherwise it won't be as enjoyable of a process for you. I think the most important characteristic of a scientist is being able to stay open-minded or ana out of the box thinker. If you approach aspects of experiments or even live like this you will learn so much more and be able to explore so much more. This will help you to not think so linear in problem-solving and experimental designing.

Let's Jam with Google Jamboard

  Let's Jam with Google Jamboard To get an idea of what Google Jamboard just imagine a virtual whiteboard with multiple participant access.  Jamboard empowers students to share ideas and collaborate.  This semester we utilized jamboard in our lessons while teaching to get quick student feedback. It was a great tool to utilize in this sense, although there were some sharing accessibility issues here and there. The really great thing about it is that students can pull files from their own drive and collaborate with jamboard which was a feature we did not use this semester but I will continue to look into. In turn, it truly is a wonderful addition to google classroom and virtual teaching.  As a future educator, I plan to use jamboard as perhaps a classroom response system or just the way we have been using it this semester. It is a valuable tool to have access to.
